Summary:
The Vice President of Operations Strategy and Excellence plays a critical leadership role in driving DFIN's continuous improvement and operational transformation. Reporting to the SVP of Operations Strategy and Global Supply Chain, this leader oversees a high-performing team of engagement managers, process improvement specialists, and data analysts.
This position is responsible for optimizing global operations to enhance the client experience, improve efficiency, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure that all initiatives align with enterprise data security and governance priorities. The VP of Operations Strategy and Excellence collaborates closely with DFIN executive leadership on enterprise-wide initiatives to design and implement strategic objectives, operationalize innovative solutions, and foster a culture of operational excellence. The driver of success for this role is defined by the ability to implement agreed upon strategies across DFIN with quantified performance metrics.
Ideal candidates will bring a blend of consulting expertise, thought leadership, change management skills, and hands-on implementation experience. This role is particularly well-suited for individuals with a background in business consulting and a proven ability to lead transformation in complex environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across DFIN
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute an operations strategy to enhance client experience, drive efficiency, and improve data efficacy while ensuring necessary controls, aligning with enterprise objectives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted adviser to business unit and functional leaders, providing insight and recommendations on operational excellence topics
  • Provide thought leadership for the design of best-in-class operational solutions and processes, both internally and in partnership with third-party consultants and suppliers, including current state assessments, future state design, pain point identification, and application of lean, automation, strategic outsourcing, or simplification principles
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful implementation of operational strategies and solutions
  • Leverage data-driven insights to identify trend patterns, gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for refinement, supporting more informed and proactive decision-making
  • Promote value-based project assessment to ensure that initiatives are aligned with the most critical business needs and deliver maximum ROI
  • Oversee the successful execution of operational solutions, utilizing a consultative approach including project planning, execution monitoring, and iterative refinement based on real-time feedback

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • 4+ years in a leading consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Accenture, PWC, Alix Partners), with a focus on operational improvement; minimum one year as an Engagement Manager, Project Leader, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing of operational improvement initiatives across functions or business units
  • Proven ability to integrate data analytics with creative problem-solving to assess current state and future-state solutions
  • Strong progressive strategic thinking, business and financial acumen, and intellectual curiosity with a focus on long term vision
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to drive enterprise alignment and lead through complexity and change
  • Executive presence and credibility, with a track record of advising and engaging senior leaders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Deep understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement frameworks
  • Strong project management experience, including leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to execution
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and be a change agent within the organization
  • Passion for team development, mentorship, and talent cultivation
