Welcome to Agerpoint
Agerpoint is reshaping how the world captures, analyzes, and manages field data, powering a more resilient food supply and safeguarding natural ecosystems. By merging advanced AI, agentic models, and data fusion, we’re building the next-generation spatial platform that delivers unprecedented insights for agriculture and environmental conservation.
Our Agerpoint Capture app transforms any smartphone into a data acquisition tool, making it simple to record ground-level truth of crops and trees. These real-time visual models sync seamlessly with Agerpoint Cloud, our AI-native data platform that integrates satellite imagery, drone surveys, field sensors, and human observations to produce highly precise, quantifiable digital twins and analytics.
From estimating yield and identifying disease to assessing biodiversity, Agerpoint’s data cloud delivers actionable intelligence that drives better decision-making for agriculture, forestry, insurance, government, and conservation organizations.
Named a 2022 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, Agerpoint is charting a bold path to transform how we measure and manage the planet’s vegetation. Our ultimate goal: to enhance the quality of life for all and combat climate change by fostering a data-driven revolution in how we grow our food, manage our forests, and protect our natural habitats.
The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina at the Alexandria Center for AgTech - the country's first and only integrated multi-tenant, collaborative and amenity-rich R&D and greenhouse site.
We’re looking for a Head of Product Engineering who can scale an AI-native, edge-to-cloud platform while building a culture of craftsmanship and customer-centric design. You’ll own everything from mobile capture applications in a customer’s hand to web interfaces to the APIs that power partner integrations. The Head of Product Engineering will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end architecture decisions balancing build-vs-buy and ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Direct multiple cross-functional squads (mobile, web, API/integrations) through an OKR-driven agile process, hitting delivery commitments on scope, budget, and timeline.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a diverse, high-performing engineering team; establishing a culture of innovation, code quality, and continuous learning.
- Implement rigorous reliability practices (automated testing, observability, incident response) to maintain ≥ 99.9 % uptime across global deployments.
- Coordinate with Platform Engineering, Machine Learning, and Data Science teams to accelerate AI innovation and time-to-impact.
- Support IP creation, prototyping novel algorithms and workflows, manage R&D spikes, and coordinate patent filings in computer vision, 3D reconstruction, and geospatial analytics.
- Partner closely with Product Marketing, UI/UX Design and Business Development to translate customer insights into shippable features, cohesive UX, and measurable adoption.
- Manage cloud spend, vendor contracts, and strategic technology partnerships (hyperscalers, drone/UAV providers, agronomy data sources) to optimize ROI.
- Ensure compliance with SOC 2, GDPR, regional data-sovereignty requirements, embedding development security operations into every stage of the development lifecycle.
- Manage external partnerships and integrations with 3rd party data and analytics provider

- Fluency across the full stack (TypeScript/React, Node/Python services, PostGIS/Timescale, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar).
- Proven design chops in cloud + edge architectures (mobile + drone capture, data streaming, GPU/TPU inference) - serves as a player-coach
- Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML products: model lifecycle, feature stores, ML ops, vector databases, latency trade-offs
- Track record of partnering with product, marketing, and external tech vendors to hit ARR, adoption, and cost-efficiency targets
